Southwest Desert Landscape Photos 2014
My second photo tour of this land of mystery and imagination. There will be a third.
For two weeks in late September / early October of 2014, my wife and I spent every waking hour driving, hiking, or photographing the areas around the Colorado Plateau. Most of these were close to the border between Utah and Arizona, although we did pop into Colorado to check out Mesa Verde National Park. Only staying 2 nights in each location we were constantly on the move. We visited, in order: Grand Canyon National Park (South Rim), Canyon de Chelly National Monument, Mesa Verde National Park, Monument Valley, Page Arizona (Lake Powell, Antelope Canyon & Horseshoe Bend), Kanab Utah (Vermillion Cliffs National Monument - North Coyote Buttes/The Wave, South Coyote Buttes, White Pocket), and finally Zion National Park.
The lonely, delicate and other-worldly desert landscapes of the American Southwest are inspirational to many photographers. Even if you are not a photographer you cannot help but fall in love with some of the most beautiful and unique landscapes the world has to offer.
